Here's a pretty decent Ramada I've stayed at once before that I feel deserves more credit than is given by some previous guests on Tripadvisor. While the hotel is a bit older, it provided me with everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. It's very convenient to Los Angeles International Airport - only 3 miles away. The 405 and 105 freeways are near the hotel, but no traffic noise was heard.

Here's another Pittsburgh BRG (seems to be the city of the day), this one being contributed by reader Kyle. This one takes advantage of the fact that Expedia doesn't charge extra person fees for occupancy over two. In the past, Wyndham used to deny any occupancy over two, even if Expedia did not charge extra person fees, because Expedia clearly says "These rates are based on double occupancy". According to Kyle, things may have changed. Kyle tells us that this one is a simple and easy BRG approval. The rates are easily visible by searching Kayak.

I'm not sure that this one will work for you. The room description on Expedia raises some flags. Read on below for why that is. This hotel is located in the heart of the Oakland medical and educational district, within a short walk of many area hospitals, and is within easy reach of Carnagie Mellon, the University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne, and Carlow. Anaheim, CA Deal-Get A Non-Wyndham Hotel for Free!

Just noticed a great deal for anyone wanting a hotel in Anaheim, CA for this Friday, December 19th. You can get it for free (or at the very least, very cheap!) I just booked this for a friend for free with no problem!

Hotelclub.net has a $16 room rate for the Anaheim Plaza Hotel & Suites (directly across the street from Disneyland) for that night- 12/19. It may be a rate mistake, who knows. It's for a Family Suite, but works only when you book single occupancy.

If you go to www.hotelclub.net/US50 you can still acquire 20 free "member dollars" to pay for the room in it's entirety! (The $50 holiday promotion ended, so now they just offer $20 for signing up) Your total for this room after tax will be $18, so you can get it for free, or at least get it for $18 otherwise. And by the way, it's free to join! Just be sure after booking to print out your voucher to bring to the hotel with you. It's all explained on your final booking page.

Hertz is offering one weekend day FREE at selected US locations using PC#127595 . All you have to pay are taxes and fees. The code works for one day rentals, unlike other free weekend day offers that require you to rent for the entire weekend, Friday to Monday. The terms and conditions exclude New York City and the entire states of Florida and Hawaii, and are limited to participating locations only.

I checked a few cities out, and while the code works for places like Los Angeles and Memphis, it doesn't work for others, like Chicago and Minneapolis. Test your city and see if any locations near you are participating.

US hotel chain Wyndham Worldwide to slash 4,000 jobs

Folks, I'm fairly pessimistic about the Best Rate Guarantee's future after reading news like this. In a nutshell, don't get too comfortable:

From the Associated Press:

"WASHINGTON (AFP) — Wyndham Worldwide Corp., a US hotel and resort chain, said late Monday it plans to slash about 4,000 jobs in a restructuring aimed at cutting its dependence on the asset-backed securities market.

"With the credit markets showing no signs of improvement, we are effectively eliminating our need to access the securitization markets to support an otherwise well-performing vacation ownership business," Stephen Holmes, Wyndham Worldwide chairman and chief executive, said in a statement.

The company said the jobs, representing one-eighth of its workforce, would be eliminated in the first quarter of 2009, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The job eliminations will come as the company shrinks its timeshare vacation business, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, which has a network of some 145 vacation ownership resorts throughout North America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.

"These proactive steps will ensure maximum flexibility across all our businesses irrespective of conditions within the asset-backed securities market," Holmes said.

Wyndham Worldwide, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, employs more than 32,000 employees globally."

I hope that Wyndham can weather the economic storm and maintain this excellent program and keep themselves honest about guaranteeing rate equality in the long-term. Despite all the belly-aching and moaning we might experience after "losing" a BRG claim, I hope you all will sit up and remember, this is one kick-ass company that is willing to honor the fact that they did not have the best available rate for our hotels and dates, and compensate us with free rooms. Previously posted in October, this BRG is still availble as well! You can locate this Super 8 just off Interstate 95, between Historic Savannah in Georgia and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

(Still Available) Jackson, Wyoming- Super 8 Jackson Hole

Previously posted back in October, this Super 8 Motel is still hanging around as a BRG through December for those of you who'd still want it. This property is adjacent to Yellowstone National Park in Western Wyoming, in close proximity to great skiing and other outdoor activities in the Teton Mountain Range.

Still Available: Spokane, Washington - Ramada Limited Suites North & Howard Johnson Downtown

If one thing is certain, its that Spokane, WA is a literal hotbed of BRG activity (and has been for a couple of years now!). We posted these last month, but these opportunities never seem to go away, so if you missed out on them then, rest assured that they're still around! Availability hasn't been loaded on Expedia for 2009 yet, but it will be soon. For now, these are good for stays in December. Keep checking back for dates in the new year.

Spokane, Washington- Ramada Limited Suites

This one is a great all-suite property with spacious rooms, free hot breakfast, and a wonderful indoor pool. The staff are very BRG friendly and love to see people saving money. The very flamboyant, expressive breakfast guy is a hoot - a comedian in the making!

Spokane, Washington- Howard Johnson Inn Airport / Downtown

This one is located in downtown Spokane, no where near the Airport, but they like to tack that on because they offer a shuttle. It's within walking distance of Starbucks, 7-11, and a few restaurants, around 2 blocks from the Interstate 90 off-ramp. Comfortable rooms, OK breakfast, modern property, but the desk clerk (who always seems to be on-shift) is very snobby to anyone staying for free. "You ought to consider paying at least once", and the like, along with stares that one would reserve for someone who just murdered your pet.

Here's one located near the Spokane International Airport, and just minutes away from the Northern Lights Casino. Easy access from Interstate 90 and US 2, and within 5 minutes of downtown Spokane. This one is easily visible by searching Kayak.

Room Details: All of the standard room types w/o micro and fridge are cheaper on Expedia/Hotels.com. The BRG claim staff are known to take issue when Wyndham offers two types of rooms, but its fairly clear that Expedia offers the lower rate for the corresponding room types. If they give you problems, call a supervisor.
